                                About NCCPA

                                Our History

The North Carolina College Personnel Association was founded in 1966 and was then chartered by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) in 1971. In just under thirty-five years, NCCPA has emerged as a leader among the state divisions of ACPA. We are proud of our recent accomplishments and awards from ACPA. NCCPA was named the Outstanding State Division in 1990, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, and 2006 and has received the Award for Innovation in 1998, 1999, 2002, 2006, and 2007.  Included are Outstanding State/International Leaders: Leslie Rand-Pickett of NC State (2003), Shelly Myers of ECU (2006), and Diane Reed of UNCW (2008).

                                Our Mission

NCCPA, a state division of the American College Personnel Association, exists to provide leadership in the college student development profession, to contribute to the continuing education of student development educators, and to offer networking opportunities among its members.

                                Our Commitment To Diversity

NCCPA recognizes that equal access can be achieved when individuals are accepted in an environment that is free of prejudice and open to all regardless of age, disability, gender, marital status, race, religion, or sexual orientation.  NCCPA strives for multicultural understanding and is committed to providing ongoing programs for the education of members focusing on the elimination of prejudice and stereotypes.

                                Our Future

Our future depends on professionals such as you to take an active role in our organization. With a firm background, a solid present, and members such as you, there are no limits to our success in the 21st century!
