WHY JOIN NCCPA?
- To remain successful, student affairs professionals need to stay current on trends and issues within higher education, and anticipate changes that will occur in the years to come. NCCPA provides its members with the opportunity for this kind of professional development. By networking with other professionals in the state, members of NCCPA can call upon each other and our vast array of resources.
- As an active member, you will be able to receive and share special areas of expertise in all areas of college student development. NCCPA's membership includes professionals in academic advising, activities, career development, counseling, financial aid, Greek life, international student advising, orientation, residence life, faculty, unions...just to name a few.
- It is clear to see that the world is becoming smaller and more connected. NCCPA is one way you can become part of this growing trend of connections and make a difference in your professional career and in the lives of the students whom you serve .

WHO WE ARE:
Our History
The North Carolina College Personnel Association was founded in 1966 and was then chartered by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) in 1971. In just under thirty-five years, NCCPA has emerged as a leader among the state divisions of ACPA. We are proud of our recent accomplishments and awards from ACPA. NCCPA was named the Outstanding State Division in 1990, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2000,
2001, and 2006 and has received the Award for Innovation in 1998, 1999, 2002,
2006, and 2007. Included are Outstanding State/International Leaders:
Leslie Rand-Pickett of NC State (2003), Shelly Myers of ECU (2006), and Diane
Reed of UNCW (2008).
Our Mission
NCCPA, a state division of the American College Personnel Association, exists to provide leadership in the college student development profession, to contribute to the continuing education of student development educators, and to offer networking opportunities among its members.
Our Commitment to Diversity
NCCPA recognizes that equal access can be achieved when individuals are accepted in an environment that is free of prejudice and open to all regardless of age, disability, gender, marital status, race, religion, or sexual orientation. NCCPA strives for multicultural understanding and is committed to providing ongoing programs for the education of members focusing on the elimination of prejudice and stereotypes.

Each academic year, NCCPA offers a variety of conferences and one day workshops for professionals and the constituents with whom we work. Conferences include Fall Conference, First Year Experience Conference, the LEAD Conference (student leadership), and the Administrative Personnel Conference..

NCCPA Listserv

Newsletter
NCCPA produces and distributes a quarterly newsletter, the NCommunicator. Submissions to the newsletter are encouraged by all members.

A resource given to all members that details our membership and the institutions of higher education in the state. Web accessible to members only.
Networking and Support
If you are a new graduate student or a seasoned professional, NCCPA offers networking and professional support to all of its members. Meet new people, share new ideas, and enhance professional practices.

GETTING INVOLVED: Committees and Consortiums
Dedicate your talents in an area of your interest. As a talented group of professionals, there are many ways to become involved in the exciting programs of NCCPA. Contribute to one of the following committees or consortiums.
Conference Planning
Coordinates and promotes our Fall Conference.
Community Colleges
Provides an avenue for community colleges to connect with NCCPA.
Leadership Consortium
Sponsors the annual LEAD Conference and maintains a leadership library.
Membership
Coordinates recruitment and retention of the association.
New Professional/Graduate Students
Provides outreach to new members in the field through programs and job information services.
Technology
Provides web site maintenance and development and promotes other technological advances in the association.
