PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It is official – spring is in the air!  Warm temperatures and blooming flowers are telling us all that the spring semester is almost over.  I know this finds many of you buried under mounds of advising appointments, resume critiques and in the mist of housing sign-ups.  During these hectic times, do not forget the reason you entered this field… because of your passion for student success.  I have recently found myself too busy doing my job to actually do my job.  Take the time to really listen to the student in front of you; enjoy the moment to realize your contribution to this young life… enjoy your work.

NCCPA volunteers continue to work hard to provide professional development and leadership opportunities for our colleagues throughout the state.  The fourth annual President’s Forum was a success with keynote speaker, Vernon Wall.  The drive-in allowed for many intimate discussions on campus hot topics regarding social justice issues.  We are very proud of our friends at Mount Olive College for hosting a wonderful student LEAD conference in late February, where Nancy Hunter Denny provide another phenomenal keynote address.

Connie Uselman and committee are working tirelessly to prepare for the upcoming Administrative Support Conference at UNC-Greensboro on Friday, April 18th.  Please take time to thank the support staff in your offices for all the numerous times they have saved you by allowing them to attend the drive-in conference.

As you hear talks of the US presidential candidates, do not forget that elections for NCCPA are upon us!  During this time, I reflect on the many opportunities I have had through this wonderful organization.  NCCPA continues to thrive with dedicated, committed and passionate individuals who truly seek the best for the students we serve and to represent our state extremely well.

ACPA is quickly approaching and I hope to see many of you in Atlanta.  Please make special note of the ACPA section in this newsletter for special events regarding NCCPA.  I again wish you an awesome semester of growth, challenges, and successes.
