Keynote Speaker
Dr. Audrey Jaeger,
Associate Professor, N.C. State University Dr. Jaeger is an Associate Professor in the Leadership, Policy and Adult and Higher Education (LPAHE) Department. Dr. Jaeger's primary research interests include student outcomes and faculty and student engagement. Professor Jaeger is currently engaged in a grant funded project from the Association for Institutional Research addressing student outcomes in community colleges. The grant will examine how varying levels of exposure to part-time faculty instruction affect the likelihood that students will graduate and/or transfer to a four-year institution. Dr. Jaeger is also collaborating with colleagues at NC State and several other institutions to look at student responsibility on college campuses. Finally, Dr. Jaeger is exploring the role that faculty play in the engagement/service mission of colleges and universities. Lunch & Learn Session
Featuring:
Terence Hicks, Ph.D, Ed.D Associate Professor of Research, Department of Educational Leadership, Fayetteville State University Full bio linked here. Co-Editor of new April 2012 book: Research Studies in Higher Education: Educating Multicultural College Students Purchase the new book here. Dr. Hicks will discuss topics and highlights from his new book. This important text focuses on quantitative and qualitative research studies surrounding the African American, first-generation, undecided and non-traditional college students. The chapter authors provide important recommendations for university administrators, faculty and staff in supporting the adjustment to college life of these students. Most importantly, recommendations focused primarily on these college students, and ways in which administrators and faculty could provide support to address the low-college retention rate among this group due to their educational challenges. |
